African Diaspora residents in Belgium eager to explore investment opportunities in Democratic Republic of Congo(#DRC), #Morocco and #Senegal, are warmly invited to join O-REMIT’s Angel Investor Programme. Immerse yourself in a journey of learning, connection, and investment in sustainable businesses. Unleash the potential of your heritage to make a meaningful impact while exploring and investing in exciting prospects in DRC, Morocco and Senegal. O-REMIT, a project launched by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and ZidiCircle, is proudly supported by the Belgian government.
O-Remit training programme
This training programme is designed to unite driven professionals with a keen interest in investing, entrepreneurship and venture capital, willing to invest in selected businesses in Morocco, Senegal and/or DR Congo. Through this programme, you will gain invaluable insights and tools necessary to empower your journey as a confident investor.
The training includes:
- Two comprehensive workshops covering investment basics;
- Group mentoring from experienced investors from Ondernemers voor Ondernemers;
- At least 2 retreats in Belgium, fostering networking with peers and investor mentors;
- Opportunities to become a jury member in the pitching competition for businesses in DRC, Morocco and Senegal;
- Access to ZidiCircle Coop-Diaspora investment tools and a supportive community, helping you with your investments;
- Access to the online learning platform of the ZidiCircle Angel Investing school.
Programme dates
Starting on 6 February 2024 our programme will be a mix of online and physical meetups that will be held on:
Tuesday 6 February 2024 – Online meeting from 18h00 till 20h00
Tuesday 13 February 2024 – online meeting from 18h00 till 20h00
Friday 23 February 2024 – Physical meeting in Belgium from 17h30 till 20h30
Friday 27 February 2024 – Online meeting from 18h00 till 20h00
Friday 8th March 2024 – Physical meeting in Belgium from 17h30 till 20h30
This agenda is indicative and subject to change
O-Remit aims to showcase sustainable businesses in DRC, Morocco and Senegal active in the Green economy sectors such as Food and Agriculture, Renewable energy, Water Sanitation and Health (WASH). Manufacturing and digital solutions supporting the Green economy will also be considered.
Costs
The entire program is free of charge, thanks to the support of the Belgian government. However, as future investors, participants are urged to invest a minimum of € 500 in a chosen SME after completing the program. As part of the admission process, admitted participants will be required to deposit 100 euros to a secure bank account at the zidicircle coop. After the training is completed and the participant chooses the business to invest in, they will be required to top up the 100 euro to make the investment. All the due diligence and investment support will be provided.

Background information O-Remit project
This activity takes place within the framework of the funded by the Belgian government and implemented by IOM in Belgium and Luxembourg in partnership with ZidiCircle, Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs (OVO) and National Bank of Belgium. This project aims to offer the African diaspora living in #Belgium cost-effective alternatives for remittances and opportunities for investment of savings.
